Haigh Fest and Furious

Glastonbury may be over for another year but the festival season is just hotting up in Wigan.

The borough’s grand old manor house - Haigh Hall - forms the backdrop for this Sunday’s (July 5) massive free music festival.

Haigh Fest is expected to attract more than 8,000 revellers keen to see the area’s talented bands and solo artists.

Organised by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT), funded by the Wigan Borough Partnership, it‘s a chance to showcase the borough’s best unsigned acts. It’s now in its seventh year.
Chris Wyatt, arts and festivals co-ordinator for WLCT, said: "Wigan borough has a fantastic music scene and Haigh Fest is about seeing those top acts gracing this prestigious stage.

“This is a great showcase for local music talent in the borough and it is now attracting a more regional profile.”

He added: “It’s going to be a fantastic day celebrating all that’s great about music in the borough of Wigan.”

The free festival kicks off at 12pm Sunday 5th July with twelve acts taking to the stage throughout the day.
