One of the country’s most highly rated crime writers headlines a mini
fiction festival featuring crime, history and storytelling at Standish
and Beech Hill libraries later this month.
Cath Staincliffe, creator of hit TV drama series ‘Blue Murder’ appears
at Standish Library at 2pm on Tuesday 26th February. Cath will give an
exclusive insight into her successful career and her passion for
writing.
Raised in Bradford, Cath is also the creator of the Sal Kilkenny
mysteries. Her 1994 novel ‘Looking for Trouble’ was short-listed for the
Crime Writer Association's John Creasey Award for the best first crime
novel and was serialised on ‘Woman's Hour’ on BBC Radio 4.
In addition to Blue Murder, the festival also features ‘Ladykillers’, a
fascinating talk about crime writing by author Alan Hayhurst. Alan
appears at Beech Hill Library on Wednesday 27th February at 7.30pm.
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust Community Library Officer Lynda Finney
said: “We are delighted to have such prestigious guests such as Cath and
Alan with us this year. Last year’s festival was hugely popular with our
customers, especially the author visits.
“These events are really interesting and are great social gatherings;
everyone who comes along has fun. We have catered for all age groups and
interests by including a history talk, a creative writing workshop,
