This free event is organised by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Sports Development Unit and will feature sports demonstrations, advice workshops and a chance for sports fans to learn more about their local clubs.

Newly appointed president of Wigan Borough Sports Council, Phil Clarke thinks the club fayre is a great idea, “The Wigan Sports Club Fayre will provide a unique chance for sports enthusiasts and clubs to share skills and to learn more about the huge opportunities available for people of all ages and abilities. It is also a great chance for different clubs to meet up and share ideas. I would urge people from all sides of the borough to come along and find out a little bit more about what’s going on for you.”

Additional to the sports clubs attending there will also be free giveaways and information packs for all attendees and special appearances from some of the current Wigan Warriors stars. Showcase events, highlighting the borough’s more unusual sporting talents will run throughout the day.

The timetable for the showcase events is:
10am - Wheelchair Rugby
11.25am - Westleigh Basketball Club
12.00pm - Wigan Cheerleaders
12.30pm - Netball

Sports Council Chairman, Trevor Barton, is also backing the event, “This is a great opportunity for the people of Wigan and Leigh to get out and see all the clubs of the borough in one place. With the many displays and sporting exhibitions on show this is a great opportunity to raise the profile of sport within the borough. The club fayre can help open many doors for all clubs and citizens within the borough."
