The
Turnpike Gallery
The Turnpike Gallery opened in 1971. It is a modern, large gallery
(300 sq. m.) situated within the Turnpike Centre in the Civic Square,
Leigh. The Turnpike Centre also houses Leigh Library and the Derby Room,
and provides a focal point for cultural activity in the centre of the
town.
The gallery aims to engage the widest possible audience with contemporary
art and artists, through exhibitions, learning and outreach.

The Arts Exchange

and opportunities taking place in the Wigan area. The organisations who
are members of the Arts Exchange cover everything from writing,
publishing, media and IT, graphics, photography, visual arts, performance,
theatre, and all forms of music and dance. Many groups run classes,
courses, and stage regular performances.
