The Active Coaching Team
The Active Coaching Team is made up of 13
full time Community Sports Coaches who cover a wide range of sport &
physical activity. The team deliver a structured & targeted programme
within school & community settings across the borough.
Within the team are 3 sports specific coaches responsible for the
delivery of Cricket, Netball & Rugby League, three physical activity and
health coaches responsible for delivering the various health related
programmes we offer, a disability coach who delivers sessions within
special schools and for disability community groups, and finally six
multi-skill coaches who deliver generic multi-skills and multi-sport
sessions.
Last year the team delivered 751 hours of weekend & evening community
based sports sessions to 9354 young people. The team have delivered to
12379 young people within schools throughout the borough.
Throughout the year there have been a number of key events that have
demonstrated the teams commitment to achieving their aims. An example of
this would be the Ashton Community Cup, an event organised by a Andrea
Pilling to break down barriers between the police and young people
within the township of Ashton & Bryn. The ‘Get Active this Summer’ 2007
was a Sports Development event lead entirely by the Active Coaching
team. The six week programme engaged over 1000 young people throughout
the borough. The work the coaches carry out within schools also receives
excellent feedback. The team aim to double this number with the ‘Get
Active’ this Summer 2008 programme.
