Al Fresco Project

The Al Fresco project aims to use the great outdoors to encourage adults of all ages and abilities to become more physically active. Amongst the wide range of low cost activities taking place across the borough are:

• an extended Health Walks programme
• “On Yer Bike”, fun cycle rides ideal for beginners or those returning to cycling
• crown green bowling tuition courses
• golf taster sessions
• outdoor Tai Chi sessions for the Summer months

Activities are delivered through our extensive partnership working across the borough.

For more information, please contact Yvonne Ashcroft (Outdoor Activity Officer) on 01942 886802.

Health Walks (Organised Short Walks)
Health Walks are ideal for people who want to improve their general health and wellbeing. These walks are suitable for people of all ages and this is a fun way to take up walking in a safe, sociable atmosphere.

Walking is an ideal form of exercise, and a way to enjoy your local area, meet new people and generally have a good time.

Image: Health on Wheels logoThere is no doubt that cycling can be a great way to exercise. However, many people are put off cycling for a whole host of reasons. The 'Health on Wheels' initiative is aimed at helping adults get back into cycling in a safe, fun and healthy way. As part of the Health on Wheels initiative, we will be organising regular guided cycle rides and in particular encouraging people to take part who may not have been active for some time - even providing bikes and safety equipment (where possible) on the rides.
