Cheaper transport for college students

Image: BusWe’ve covered concessionary fares for under 16s and we’ve done cheaper train fares for over 16s, so now here’s how to arrange cheaper fares on all transport if you’re aged 16-19 and in education:

Get a Scholar’s Concessionary Permit.

Sounds quite posh doesn’t it? But it basically means that you can get about on specific journeys between college and your house provided you’re age 16-19 and live permanently within Greater Manchester.

If you use the bus, you’ll get the standard concessionary fare, whilst on trains or Metrolink trams (like the ones they have in Manchester), you’ll get half fare.

How do I get one?

Pick up a form from school, college or a GMPTE travel shop, sort it out and send it in.
