If you’re in care you can ask to have an independent visitor.

This means that you can be matched up with an adult with similar interests and hobbies to you and if you want them to they can visit you regularly, so you can talk to them and they can give you advice if you need it. They can come along with you to your review meetings for support and you can go on trips and activities with them.

The visitor you are matched with will be checked to make sure they are safe and you can let your social worker or carer know how things are going.

If you don’t have much contact with your own family and think you might like to have an independent visitor, just call Wigan Children’s Fund on 01942 404151 or email childrensfund@wigan.gov.uk
