16/07/10 | A whole bunch of busy
Summer
is the busiest time of year for The LINC team, here's a couple of things
we've been working on at LINC Online.
What’s On
The basic set up for our
summer What’s On guide
is up and running. So far, you can view summer activities by month for
July and
August, and
by week (and even day) for anything happening in July.
From Monday, you’ll also be able to view August’s activities by week and
day as well. There’s a fair few activities already in the What’s On
guide, but we’ve got a whole load more that we’ll be adding soon.
Plings
Plings is just another way that you can view what’s happening in Wigan
Borough this summer. All the info will be based on another website that
is currently being set up. We’ve spent about 18 hours this week getting
all the info together for Plings, and we’ve still got a bit left to do,
so as soon as that’s done, we’ll share it with you.
Haigh Fest and Tuned-In Concerts
We’ve been trying our best to get as much coverage from
Haigh Fest 2010
and the
Wigan Life Tuned-In concerts online as quickly as we can, but with
everything else going on, it’s taking some time.

So far, you can view
photo
galleries of Tuned-In performances from McFly, N-Dubz
& Alesha Dixon, The Saturdays and Ronan Keating and
read Mark
Yates’ review of the Ronan Keating gig.
On the Haigh Fest front, we’ve added a
photo
gallery by Mark Haslam,
Ross
Wright’s review of The Portlands,
comments
from some of the bands who played, and a new
podcast featuring some of your comments on the festival.
We’ve still got a full review of the Haigh Fest and Tuned-In concerts,
more photos of Haigh Fest, videos and more comments from bands and fans
to come, and we’ll have that up asap.

Cyber safety
You may have already seen our dedicated
cyber safety
mini-site, which has loads of advice on how to keep yourself safe
online, as well as tutorials on how to change your privacy settings on
sites like Facebook.
Whilst most of that’s done, we heard this week that Facebook have now
added a CEOP app that helps you report anything dodgy you see on the
site. We’re hoping to take a good look at it and get some info on our
cyber safety site asap.
There’s loads more happening on the site right now, and the best way to
make sure you never miss any of it, is to
follow us on Twitter for the latest updates.
