Play Pathfinder Project

Last year Wigan Borough was awarded £2 million funding as part of the governments Department for Children, Schools and Families. The Pathfinder Programme was set out to refurbish 28 play areas and to promote play cross Wigan.

From April 2009 the Play Section, part of Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust began to refurbish the first 14 play areas and began work on the refurbishment of Norley Hall Adventure Playground.

Those first sites are now finished and details are below:

As well as the redevelopment of the 28 Play Areas The Play Section have created the Playfinder Team.

This team of skilled Playworkers will work across the borough to provide new and exciting play opportunities for the children and young people of the borough.

The main focus of the team will be to work on Pathfinder play areas to deliver play sessions and to gain the views of children and young people in the community through consultation.
